USDA-APHIS Bison Bull Shedding

Week of May 1, 2011: The APHIS-MTFWP Bull Bison study entitled "Study of Shedding and Venereal Transmission of Brucella abortus by Bison Bulls in the Greater Yellowstone Area" began sampling 4/19/2011 in the Gallatin National Forest adjacent to West Yellowstone, Montana. Between 4/19/2011 and 4/20/2011, twelve bull bison were immobilized and sampled in the Horse Butte area of the Gallatin National Forest. One of these bulls was a recapture from last spring. This concludes the field portion of this study. APHIS would like to thank our partner in this study, MTFWP, for their collaboration and expertise. APHIS would also like to express our gratitude for the cooperation extended by personnel from the Forest Service-GNF and the MTDOL through out the field portion of this study.



Week of April 30, 2010: The APHIS-MTFWP Bull Bison research project "Study of Shedding and Venereal Transmission of Brucella abortus by Bison Bulls in the Greater Yellowstone Area" continued to sample bull bison this week  in the Gallatin National Forest to Gardiner, Montana.  Between  4/30/2010 and 5/04/2010, three bull bison were immobilized and sampled the area northeast of Gardiner in the Gallatin National Forest.  This study is concluded for the season.



Week of April 23, 2010
: The APHIS-MTFWP Bull Bison research project "Study of Shedding and Venereal Transmission of Brucella abortus by Bison Bulls in the Greater Yellowstone Area" continued to sample bull bison this week  in the Gallatin National Forest adjacent to West Yellowstone and Gardiner,Montana.  Between  4/23/2010 and 4/29/2010,  ten bull bison were immobilized and sampled the area northwest of West Yellowstone and northeast of Gardiner in the Gallatin National Forest.



Week of April 15, 2010
: The APHIS-MTFWP Bull Bison research project "Study of Shedding and Venereal Transmission of Brucella abortus by Bison Bulls in the Greater Yellowstone Area" continued to sample bull bison this week  in the Gallatin National Forest adjacent to West Yellowstone, Montana.  Between  4/15/2010 and 4/22/2010, nine bull bison were immobilized and sampled the area northwest of West Yellowstone in the Gallatin National Forest.



Week of April 6, 2010: The APHIS-MTFWP Bull Bison "Study of Shedding and Venereal Transmission of Brucella abortus by Bison Bulls in the Greater Yellowstone Area" began 4/6/2010 in the Gallatin National Forest adjacent to Gardiner, Montana.  Between  4/6/2010 and 4/14/2010, sixteen bull bison were immobilized and sampled in the Eagle Creek area of the Gallatin National Forest.
